Situation

 

Rev C firmware is now available on DIMMs.  If a customer has an issue that the Rev C DIMM can solve, the CCC can CREW (or POP if CREW is not available) out the DIMM to them instead of sending the unit in for service with a formatter replacement. Note: Since the LJ1200 family only has 1 DIMM slot, this will not work for the “N” version or when a customer already has a memory DIMM in the slot.

 

Solution

 

Order the DIMM for customers when appropriate.  Use the service option of replacing the formatter when customers do not wish to have the single DIMM slot taken up with Firmware.

 

Action

 

To Be Performed By:  Customer can replace the firmware DIMM, Service Center can replace the DIMM or the Formatter.  Instructions for installing the DIMM are in the Users Manual.

The Date code for Rev C Firmware is:  20010214

 

Note: The product was introduced with Rev A firmware (date code : 20001023).  There was no Rev B firmware release.

 

Fixes for Rev C firmware  include:

 

1) The latent Postscript communication interrupts issue.  After installation of the postscript driver, the printer would begin receiving data upon the launching of a print job, but would become confused and not print the job or just print garbage.  

 

2) The "PML" trap error.  After disconnecting the 1200 and then using the copy function, the printer will not be able to print after reconnecting. 

 

3) Leading Edge Margin is also fixed with this firmware revision.
